Christmas Tablescape

I started a new tradition a few years ago where our own little family has a “fancy” dinner together on the Sunday before Christmas and then we go see a local Christmas light display. It all kind of started because I wanted to learn to do a traditional Christmas meal but we usually go to Grandma’s house for Christmas eve and Christmas Day is too chaotic!

This year I decided to create a “menu”. The plan is to have Trevor and the kids downstairs and watch a Charlie Brown Christmas while I get everything wrapped up with the food and table. Then, they will all come up to a “restaurant” type setting where they will order from waitress Mom the food that they want! (I figured I am usually dishing up 5/7 plates anyways so I may as well make it part of the experience!)

The food and tables have changed a little over the years but the feeling of peace with my family to enjoy each other has stayed the same and it is one of my very favorite things to do every Christmas.
